The BCLA AGM was held October 18-20 in Whistler.  Every year at the AGM, awards are handed out to “celebrate the spirit of volunteerism by recognizing the special achievements, efforts, dedication and commitment to lacrosse that is so strong among our members”.

One of those awards - the John Cavallin Merit Award - is “chosen from the ranks of team coaches, irrrespective of division level, league or winning record. They are judged on their accomplishments of instilling playing ability, sportsmanship and competitiveness in their players”.

The 2019 John Cavallin Merit Award was awarded to both Bob Heyes (Victoria Sr A Shamrocks) and our own Dave Bremer.  Here’s what the presenters had to say about Dave and his team:

“What Dave Bremner and team staff, including Wayne Christiaens, Bruce Lesperance and Rod Lidstone, have done with this group this season is nothing less than exceptional. The Nanaimo Timbermen have enjoyed an epic turnaround of fortunes in 2019, and it’s been a few seasons in the making.

A team loaded with great players and experience, combined with the younger athletes’ buy-in to play in Nanaimo is attributed to Dave’s passion for coaching and vision for the Nanaimo Timbermen Junior A Lacrosse Team”.

Congratulations to Dave, his staff, players and the entire organization!
