NANAIMO — The Junior A Timbermen added six new players to their organization in the annual BCJALL midget draft.

General manager Dave Bremner felt the Tmen became bigger and more athletic through the draft with all the players in Nanaimo's 2021 draft class being defenders.

The first Timbermen pick was Saanich minor lacrosse product Ty Pilkington at sixth overall.

Bremner called Pilkington a big strong defender.

"He can transition the ball very well. Ty brings a great attitude to our organization as well as toughness and athleticism."

The Timbermen also selected Josh McDonald out of Cowichan Valley minor lacrosse with the 13th pick.

Later in the draft Morgan Trites (Peninsula), David Roberts (Saanich), Diego Hopkins (Port Alberni) and Scott Larden (Richmond) were brought in to the fold.

During the draft the Tmen traded away the 18th overall selection to Port Coquitlam in exchange for a second round draft pick in 2022.

If provincial health rules allow, the Junior Timbermen are hoping to hold training camp in March with a condensed regular season beginning in mid May.
