Timbermen announce 2022 coaching additions
The Nanaimo Timbermen have two new coaches for the 2022 season.
Glenn Clark is the general manager and head coach of the Albany FireWolves and will assume the role of head coach with the Junior A Timbermen.
Julian Kolb is the western scout for the FireWolves and former defensive coach for the Burnaby Lakers.
He joins the Jr. A Tmen as the team's new defensive coach.
Timbermen president Chris Bowman called Clark one of the best lacrosse coaches in the game.
He said the organization is excited to welcome both Glenn and Julian into the fold.
"Our drive and push is obviously to win a Minto Cup championship. It didn't take a lot of convincing after they looked through the roster and watched a few of the games to see the calibre of team we have on the floor right now. Everyone wants to be a part of a winning program."
Clark brings over two decades of NLL experience as a player and a coach, spending the majority of his playing career in Toronto.
He helped the Rock win five NLL championships before moving on to the Philadelphia Wings.
Glenn transitioned into coaching and became head coach of the Toronto Rock following the 2006 season.
He guided the Rock until the team’s 2009 campaign.
From there Clark coached at various levels including minors, Junior A, CLAX, and the Canadian national team.
He was the head coach of the 2019 Canadian Men’s Box Lacrosse Team where he led Team Canada to a fifth consecutive gold medal.
Glenn also returned to the NLL in 2015, as bench boss for the New England Black Wolves.
During his five seasons as head coach of the Black Wolves, the team successfully made the playoffs every year and the club was in first place in 2020 before the season came to a halt due to COVID-19.
Julian Kolb is a lifelong lacrosse player whose experience in the OLA, WLA and WCSLA has seen him work with many of today's most talented players.
The Toronto, Ontario native is a Nanaimo Timbermen alumni with games played for both the Senior A and Senior B teams.
Julian also coaches internationally, running the defense for the Austrian National Team in the 2019 World Championships and will also be in the 2022 European Championships.
