Timbermen get first win 10-7 versus Burnaby in OT
Sunday was special for the Junior A Timbermen with the team's first on floor win since July 5th, 2015.
Nanaimo beat Burnaby 10-7 in overtime at Frank Crane Arena to improve their on floor record to 1-4.
The game was tied 6-6 heading into OT and the Lakers took a 7-6 lead thanks to a power play goal.
Four straight goals from the Tmen ended the game and put Nanaimo in the win column.
Alec Molander led the way with two goals and five assists and Jake Michelson added a hat trick plus an assist.
Darian Claxton was solid in net making 47 saves.
The victory came on the heels of a frustrating 16-4 loss in New West the day before, but nobody with the Timbermen was talking about that game come Monday morning.
This weekend Nanaimo is home for a pair of difficult games.
Delta visits Frank Crane Arena on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and then the Timbermen host Coquitlam Sunday also at 4:30 p.m.
Nanaimo has already seen both teams on the road this season losing 16-5 to the Adanacs and 10-5 to the Islanders.
The Tmen are expecting more of their regulars to return from school commitments in time for this weekend's games.
