Tmen earn weekend split, look to ramp up
After 11 days off the Tmen got back to work Saturday against the Langley Thunder winning 12-11 in OT.
It was a thrilling back and forth game that went to overtime before Thomas Vaesen had the eventual winner.
The lead changed hands several times before the final buzzer and 70 minutes of hard lacrosse.
With the game tied 9-9 Colton Lidstone gave the Tmen the lead with 1:04 remaining only to have the Thunder tie the game with a second left.
Nanaimo outscored Langley 2-1 in the extra session with Vaesen leading the offense with five goals and an assist, and Arthur Miller adding six assists in the contest.
Justin Geddie got the win making 46 stops.
Sunday's game in Burnaby was the same type of back and forth affair but this time the Lakers put in the winner with five minutes to play to win 11-10.
Colton Lidstone had two goals and four assists while Thomas Vaesen chipped in four goals and an assist.
In goal Colin Jeffrey took the loss with 40 saves.
This week the schedule is heavy with a game in Ladner on Wednesday, a road contest in Port Coquitlam on Saturday, and a home game versus the Salmonbellies on Sunday.
Nanaimo is in fifth place in the BCJALL entering the week with a 9-6 record.
The Tmen are two points behind both Langley and New West with the three games in hand on the Thunder and even in games played with the Bellies.
