Winning weekend for the Timbermen

by Dan Marshall

The Junior A Timbermen mastered the Tri-Cities teams over the weekend.

Nanaimo beat Port Coquitlam 8-4 on Saturday with two goal performances from Luke Ory and Connor Barrett, while Justin Geddie made 38 saves for the victory.

The next day it was on to Coquitlam where the Tmen won 12-7. Coach Mason Pynn felt the players got better as the game progressed.

"We just started a little bit slow.  I think we were really tired from the game before.  We played well enough to keep it close for the the first two periods.  In the third everybody pulled their boots up and we got the job done."

Nanaimo sits at 3-1 halfway through the showcase season with two more games this coming weekend.

The Timbermen host Delta on Saturday and visit New Westminster on Sunday.

The July 24th home game is a 2:30pm start at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.  There will be 200 fans allowed in the building on a first come first serve basis with the doors opening at 1:45pm.

Both the Ladner and New West games are also available on pay-per-view webcast at www.playfullcreen.com.
